A: The Junior Premier League (JPL) is the largest youth football league in the United Kingdom. It operates across regional divisions, with regional champions progressing into National Leagues.

The JPL is not an Academy league, and it is not traditional grassroots football. It has been specifically designed to bridge the gap between grassroots and professional academy environments, providing a structured, high-performance pathway.

An important statistic: 1 in 11 JPL players are scouted into professional academies, highlighting the exposure and opportunity within the league.

At Prestbury Girls Academy, our JPL Warriors programme runs alongside our grassroots teams, with selection based on trial performance.

A: We have teams from U7 to U16's in the 2026/27 season.

A: Girls playing U7 to U16 for the 2026/27 season who are passionate about football and want to develop in a high-performance environment.

A: Attitude, coachability, and potential—not just current ability. We want players who love to learn and compete!

A: Within each age group, we operate a structured performance model designed to support player development at different stages.

Depending on player numbers, development needs, and league structure, some age groups may operate both a First Team (Warriors) and a Development Team (Trojans), while others may operate a single squad structure.

Our First Team (Warriors) squads compete at the highest level available for that age group within the JPL structure.

Where applicable, our Development Team (Trojans) squads also compete within the JPL structure, providing players with continued opportunities to develop within a competitive Academy environment. This may be at a different level within the wider JPL pathway depending on the age group and squad structure.

All squads train within the same programme structure and are aligned under the same coaching philosophy and player development principles.

A: Training frequency varies by age group:

• U7-U9: Train once to twice a week on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Twice weekly training is on alternate weeks.
• U10-U11: Train twice a week on Tuesday & Thursday.
• U12-U16: Train 3x weekly — Mon (Technical), Wed (Strength & Conditioning and Dedicated Goalkeeping Training), Fri (Tactical).

JPL Matches are played on a Saturday.

We encourage players to continue to attend their grassroots sessions.

A: Training sessions are held across our confirmed academy venues in Prestbury, Gloucester, Winchcombe, Oxstalls and Tewkesbury.

Strength & Conditioning is held indoors at Tewkesbury Sports Centre and Prestbury Girls Academy Indoor Centre.

A: All our coaches are UEFA qualified and have extensive experience in player development. We focus on technical skills, tactical awareness, and physical conditioning.

All our lead coaches hold a minimum of UEFA C, with age group leads holding a UEFA B and our player development coaches working towards a UEFA A.
